I’ve always had a love of travel. As long as I can remember, I wanted to see the world. As a teenager, I made lists of places I wanted to see, costs of traveling, fundraising ideas. Unfortunately, I never followed through with my travel plans. I was ‘too scared’ to go out on my own and explore our vast world. I was living in a world of ‘what ifs’ and ‘buts’. I wanted to travel with someone else and convinced myself I had to wait until the right person came along. It turns out, people say they want to travel, but they aren’t willing to commit to it (making sacrifices to save money is hard guys!).
Fast-forward to summer 2015, I’m 25 years old, and I had quite a bit of money saved up at this point. I’m working shift work in Ottawa, and I have lots of time off. I decide to make the plunge, buy a ticket to Amsterdam for three weeks and visit my long time internet friends Sybrand and Jouke. I spent three weeks in Europe having the time of my life and guess what? Absolutely nothing scary happened. I met some amazing people, saw some beautiful sights and found my passion in life.
Since then, I’ve been saving money to travel as much as I can and save my vacation time to go on epic trips.
I’ve started this blog to share my experiences with the world. If you want to know a little more about my WHY check out this blog post.
